“Within the Berlin LGTQIA* History, many Queer people of color have left their marks of resistance through celebration, activism and pride. To create their own spaces, despite discriminatory stuctures BPOC and LGBTQIA* and the intersections thereof, within mainstream society. With this project we want to research and archive unseen and supressed stories of, hoping to provide the recognition, credit and appreciation society has failed to provide. The interviews and archive material shall be a tool for education, sensibilisation, empowerment and means to exchange. We want to reconsider how we study history and people, who were searching and creating their own sense of belonging and community. We also want to highlight within institutions and public spaces in Berlin that black queer historiography are an important part of the city’s history and deserves more attention and visibility. This also reflects our motivaton for this research”
